Introduction

Thank you for visiting, and welcome to my blog for TE 823! My name is Jocelyn Elmore and I love my job! I'm a teacher...and a good one at that! I'm always looking for new and exciting ways to help my students absorb new information and enjoy doing it. I've been blessed to have very knowledgeable mentors and teachers that have taught me to strive to be the best, and I'm doing just that! In order to become an even better teacher, I've decided to further my education and take courses that require me to collaborate with other passionate and professional people that will help me to grow. I look forward to sharing my personal thoughts and ideas, and hearing what you have to say as well.

I have been a certified teacher for 2 years now. Before I became a certified teacher, I worked in the Childcare industry teaching and facilitating for 3 years. Working with children is immediately rewarding to me and I consider it one of the most important career paths there is.

I am currently a Kindergarten teacher in Houston, Texas. I received my BA in Elementary Education at Michigan State University with a concentration in Language Arts. After getting my degree, I completed a year long teaching internship and took prerequisite courses toward my masters degree. I've been trained and certified to teach and administer various district-wide tests in two states (Michigan and Texas). In the near future I plan to became a National Board Certified teacher. Eventually, I would love to teach teachers. I want to share all of the knowledge that I've gained and offer assistance to those that share my passion.

When I'm not in the classroom I like to travel and try new foods. As a picky eater, it sometimes takes a lot of preparation and courage to try new foods...but I'm always glad that I do! Even if something isn't tasty, I like being able to say so myself versus not giving it a try at all. This is one of the many ways I keep myself humble and open. How can I introduce people to new ideas daily, and be afraid to try new things myself? I try to keep a balance between my willingness to teach and my willingness to learn. The more I learn, the more I'm able to teach. Here's a basic question for you: "Have you tried something new lately?"
